Thermly
Privacy Policy
Effective January 1, 2025
TL;DR
Thermly doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app discovers printers on your local Wi-Fi network and communicates directly with them. Nothing goes to our servers or anywhere else. Your messages and network activity stay entirely on your device and local network.
Information We Collect
None. Thermly does not collect, record, or transmit any personal information, usage data, or device information. We have no backend servers and no way to receive data from the app.
Local Network Access
Thermly uses your device's local Wi-Fi network to discover and communicate with Epson receipt printers. This is a local-only connection. The app talks directly to printers on your network using the Epson ePOS SDK. No data from this process is transmitted to us or any external party. The messages you compose and send to a printer exist only in the app and on your local network at the moment of printing. Nothing is stored or logged after the print job completes.
Data Storage
Any preferences or settings you configure within Thermly, including your receipt template, store name, tax settings, and toggle states, are stored locally on your device only, using iOS system storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device, is not synced to any cloud service, and is not accessible to us or any third party. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data from your device permanently.
User-Generated Content
Any messages, text, or content you compose within Thermly for printing are processed entirely on your device and transmitted only to printers on your local network at the moment of printing. We do not receive, store, log, or have any access to the content of your messages. Once a print job is complete, no record of the message content is retained anywhere.
Security
Because Thermly does not transmit any data to external servers, there is no remote database or server-side storage that could be compromised. Anything the app stores locally (receipt template settings and preferences) exists only on your device and is protected by iOS's built-in security model, including device encryption when your device is locked.
Third-Party Services
Thermly uses the Epson ePOS SDK to communicate with compatible receipt printers. This SDK handles only the local printer communication and does not send data to Epson or any external service. No analytics, advertising, or crash reporting services are used.
Children's Privacy
Thermly does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected or transmitted, the app is safe for use by all ages.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Because Thermly does not collect, store, or sell any personal information, these rights are automatically fulfilled. There is no personal data to disclose, delete, or opt out of selling.
International Users
Thermly is operated from the United States. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted by the app, there is no cross-border data transfer of personal information. If you are located outside the United States, your use of the app does not result in any personal data being sent to or stored in the US or any other jurisdiction.
